31st October - We at City Voices turned our meeting room over to an event "A dose of Dark Fiction", led by Father Darkness aka Dan Weatherer, author of "The Legend of the chained oak" and "The soul that screamed". Of course we could have had our regular meeting in another room of the library, but what better way to celebrate Halloween (or Samhain) than to participate in some spooky or horror story-telling? So CV decided to join the audience and listen in, followed by some of our own stories. In addition to Dan, the storytellers included author Catherine Green (pictured below) with her tale of the Blackpool Vampire, writer Ken Elliot with a very realistic story around a local supernatural legend, and our very own Alan Barnett and Anita Oxford.
We followed this up with a read-around meeting - I read my slightly left-field story of the supernatural called "The Bus Driver". Now, on a personal basis, I am not really a "Horror" fan, but I did purchase one of Dan's books so I am keeping an open mind!
